My Honest Review of the Winx Club x ColourPop New Release

Last year, around early last year, Winx Club fans were waiting for a new release from Colourpop. It’s the second collaboration with Winx Club – with all new items as well as some re-releases.

Though the cost isn’t cheap for these new items, it made sense to purchase them all and try them out. I’ll tell you here what I think of them..

Unboxing and First Impressions

The collection’s second drop includes six eyeshadow sticks and a highlighter, all designed to channel the magical aesthetic of the Winx Club universe. Here are some key highlights:

  • Packaging: Each product is meticulously crafted with thematic designs, representing characters such as Bloom, Stella, and Flora in their fairy-form attie. The details, like floral accents and character-inspired names, are a nod to fans.
  • Re-released Products: While some items from the first drop made a comeback, others, such as the popular Light Stix, were noticeably absent.
  • Price Point: The total cost for the new products exceeded $100, raising questions about affordability for fans and beauty enthusiasts alike. Yet, this price assumes you purchase all 6 shadow sticks, not everyone will be doing.
  • Exciting Additions: The set included 6 shadow sticks and a giant highlighter. Although the price wasn’t cheap, I was thrilled about the duo-chrome shadow stick set. These aren’t regular eyeshadows—a fact I quickly discovered during testing.

Product Review

Eyeshadow Sticks

The eyeshadow sticks showcase vibrant, duochrome shades, blending two colors into a single product. Each stick is tailored to reflect the character’s color scheme—for instance, Flora’s pink and green tones and Layla’s green and pink hues. These versatile sticks offer:

  • Pigmentation: Highly pigmented shades that catch the light beautifully.
  • Blendability: Smooth application, even for makeup novices.
  • Shimmer Effects: An extra touch of magic with their shimmery finish.
Highlighter

The Magic Gem highlighter stands out for its:

  • Size: A generous pan size makes it a value-packed option.
  • Design: Intricate, magical-inspired aesthetics.
  • Performance: Adds a luminous glow to the skin, with a compact mirror for on-the-go touch-ups.

What Could Be Improved

While the collection excels in many areas, there are some aspects that fans and beauty enthusiasts have pointed out:

  1. Art Style: The packaging doesn’t include the classic art style, which many nostalgic fans hoped for.
  2. Price: The steep cost may deter potential buyers, despite the quality.
  3. Versatility: A setting powder compact would have added more practical utility to the collection.

Overall Impressions

In conclusion, I love my sub-$120 order from Colourpop. I definitely see myself using each product on special occasions. My only criticism is the steep price, but the quality and thoughtful design make it worth considering for fans and makeup enthusiasts alike. The duo-chrome shadow sticks, in particular, stood out as exceptional—not your average eyeshadows. What do YOU think of this release?
